Fountain Sq.

Just south of downtown is Fountain Square. A revitalizing neighborhood, it is Indy's hippest neighborhood with antique furniture shops, duck-pin bowling, a brewery, meadery, and one of the best restaurants in the Circle City. The neighborhood has two competing websites, one with an ongoing revitalization campaign underway and one for some very hip businesses so we add our highlights and point you to these two sites. If you trusted our advice this far, know we believe Fountain Square is worth the 2.1 mile walk, taxi fare, or bus ride to get there.

Anything but Square (Revitalization website)
Fountain Square, Indy (Hipster Paradise)

Blue Beard       653 Virginia Ave       317-686-1580
Blue Beard is the restaurant in Fountain Square, and really has garnered high praise from critics around Indianapolis. Amelia's bread bakery is closely associated with Bluebird's creative chefs, so much so that the Bluebeard logo is on Amelia's website. A wonderful taste of Indy!

New Day Meadery       1102 Prospect St       888-632-3379 (888-MEADERY)
One prefers the dry; the other prefers semi-sweet. We agree on the fruit meads with light scents of black raspberry, or other fruits. The tasting room is elegant.

Bowling       1105 Prospect St       317-686-6006
Duck pin bowling (aka real bowling to some) is more challenging than traditional bowling. That's why you get three balls! In the Fountain Square Theater Complex, there is Action Bowling, a Barbecue restaurant, Lobby Bar, and Publick House.
